An example of it was when Koly was doing all those pranks on Sass like, leaving dung on the door step, it showed that Koly was fighting back to Sass. If you did not know that Koly was fighting back, you might have thought that she was a brat and should be appreciative for what she has. Also, when she wouldn't give Sass her earrings, it seemed like she was being bratty and selfish but, Koly was trying to keep then earrings to have enough money to buy a train ticket for when the time comes for her to leave the household. First person point of view helped show exactly what Koly was thinking and added a huge impact on the story.
