We can learn a lot about characters through INDIRECT CHARACTERIZATION. Discuss what we learn about Hari and his mother through indirect characterization.
Through indirect characterization we learned that Hari can be kind of rude to his parents because he threw something and broke it so Koly could go to the Ganges with his parents to help Hari get better. But that also means he cares for Koly. Mrs. Mehta was mean because she got mad at Koly when she went to the bedroom to see her husband and when Koly got some honey for Hari. Even though the honey helped Hari Mrs.Mehta scolded her.
we learn alot about hari in the first chapter because he trows stuff at the wall and screams for his wife. this shows that he likes to get his own way alot and gets mad when he dont. his mother likes to get mad and yell at koly alot and wont let her do any thing. like when koly wants to on the trip with her husband and his mother but the mother does not allow it. which shows that she dont like to inculd koly with any thing even tho she is her dauthers husband.
Hari and his mother can be characterized through this novel with indirect characterization. For example when Hri was going to go to the Ganges river and Koly was not going to attend, he got very upset and started to throw objects to get his way. Chandra, Haris sister said that he always throws objects when he doesn't get his own way. Also Hari demanded that Koly tell him storys about her home. Hari's mother "Sass" is also another example because when Koly washed the bowls she saw a little sticky spot and said "How were you brought up girl?" she didn;t even call her by her name, and Koly worked hard but she did not appreciate it. She also yelled at Koly just because she saw her husband and picked him some flowers. Sass was trying to keep Koly away from Hari so she would not know that he was sick, and it is not fair to keep a wife from her husband. Koly helped Hari by giving him honey but Sass was just yelled at her to get out, even though she was trying to help.
Hari's mother shows a lot of indirect characterization. One example is when Mrs.Mahta seen that Koly had taken some flowers off the mango tree and given them to Hari. Mrs.Mahta was very angry and scolded Koly for stealing from them. Mrs.Mahta also showed a lot of care for her son when she let him get married just to get some money for Hari's medicine. Hari also shows a lot of indirect characterization just as his mother. He showed indirect characterization when he threw a vase at his parents to make them bring Koly along to the Ganges. He showed that he cared for Koly and really wanted Koly to come to the Ganges.Hari also showed braveness when he bravely told Koly that he was going to die.
Through indirect characterization we learned that Hari will thought stuff at the floor when his mother and him are having fights.his mother is just trying to do what she think's what is right.
Hari and his Mother show indirect characterization in the story we can see that Hari has a bad temper he always wants his way. An example of this is in the story when Hari mom went in Hari room and hari didn’t get his way at first so he threw things at the wall then he got his way. I would describe Hari’s Mother as mean because she wouldn’t even let Koly go in his bedroom to see Hari it was Koly’s own husband. Also Hari Mother was really mad when Koly picked blossoms and used honey for Hari because he was sick.
through indirect characterization we learn the Hari's mother is very mean, but nice to her children and husband. She is very mean to Koly, she makes her stay away from Hari, even though he is her husband. I think that Sass is being unfair to Koly. Through indirect characterization, i would say that Hari is a kind, but demanding person. he wanted Koly to come to the ganges river but his parents said no, so he threw somthing so he would get his way.
i think harry is very bossy and kind of a big brat when he dont get his way he gets very angry and flicks things at the wall.his mother dont exactly like koly and kinda hats her
Through indirect characterization I learned that Hari was sort of bad-tempered. On page 30, it tells of how Hari was throwing things and yelling at his mother because he was mad that she wouldn't let Koly come to Varanasi with them. Hari was also kind, through little things like when, like above, he fought with his mother with his terrible cough just to let Koly accompany them on their journey. Hari was also quite demanding, as I could tell from indirect characterization. For example, on page 25, Hari said to Koly, "You have to do what I tell you because you are my wife, and besides I'm not well." On page 26, when Hari says, "Tell me about your home," Koly describes that he ordered it, and told how all of his requests sounding like demands. Through indirect characterization, I can tell that Hari's mother (Sass) is a rude, sort of mean yet caring person. In the beginning, when Koly first gets to the Mehtas' house, Sass treats her very coldly and scolds her whenever she gets the chance. For example, on page 23, Sass found a small amount of stickiness on a bowl that Koly was scouring. "How were you brought up, girl?" she barked at Koly. So, Sass was kind of rude, especially to Koly. She scolded Koly for picking mango flowers from their tree to give to Hari to make him feel better, so she was a little mean. She was, though - despite her rudeness and scolding - a caring mother to Hari. I could tell through indirect characterization that she really loved Hari and was trying to do whatever she could to make him feel better. An example would be that she took the long trip to Varanasi to attempt to make him get well again. The trip took a lot of money and I would expect that a little while after they returned they might be without necessities for a time, like food and money. But, she risked it all, holding onto the hope that the trip to the Ganges river might cure Hari. She was doing whatever she could to help Hari, I could tell that through indirect characterization.
We learn about hari through indirect characterization because when he doesn't get his way he throws things and brakes them showing he is very rude and can not tolerate not getting his way. But in his mind he might only be doing it because of his sickness, So he might seem very rude. But if he was not sick he might of been a very polite and nice boy. But because of his actions he seems rude. He also seems rude when he talks to koly because he demands everything and does not request with manners to his own wife. Thats what I can tell that about hari through indirect characterization. What I can tell about his mom through indirect characterization is that she is very religous because she took her son Hari to the ganges because she thought the ancient powers of the river would heal him but in reality hari could not handle the journey, and later died. But she only did this because she knew that the ganges powers would heal him, if she didnt belive this she would not have put him through the tiring journey. This is what I can tell about hari's mom through indirect characterization.
Throughout the story, I have learned a lot of things about Hari and his mother with no one telling me or it saying on the paper. I have learned that Hari is a quiet, soft boy. I know that because he would talk to Koly very nicley and was never stern like most men in India. Although he was nice, he did have tantrums and can be aggrevated easily. He would yell at his mother and father to do things and they would listen because he was so sick. He would trow things at the wall and break them to get his way. I can never really figure out what Hari was like because he was so sick. He couldn't go outside so how would we know if he liked. He couldn't play with everyone because he was sick so how would I know if he liked that. Sass on the other hand, was not nice and soft. She was very mean and bossy because she would yell at Koly and would give hert scoldings. She was very critical and critisized everthing that Koly did. But under her hard shell, you could tell that she really cared about Hari and tried to make him better. She would always do what he asked them to do. Sass was not truthfull by not telling Koly and her parents that Hari was young and sick. But it also showed that she was trying to help Hari by getting the money.
Through the indirect characterization I learned that Hari is a very sweet, warm hearted boy that is very different from his selfless, rude mother. Hari had tantrums but that was normal for him, I never figured out that Hari had tantrums until his mother, and Hari were yelling at each other throughout the novel. I could tell that his mother was very rude because she could never respect that Hari had tantrums. Also his mother is being very rude to Koly. The only reason Hari's mother set up this wedding is so Hari would have enough money to go to the Ganges Rivers.
Through indirect characterization hari is king at times he is also kind of spoiled, he is very interested in bugs. hari his very soft an spoke softly to koly although sometimes he would have tantrums and get angry sometimes easily. but although he was sick when he got in the lake koly got to see what he truly was like when he was well. he was playfully and silly but that ended with a lot of coughing. hari mother on the other hand, is very scolding an stricked, she is very mean an somtimes cruel also she does not respect koly and somtimes when koly first moved in she didnt even call her by her name (ex that girl and haris wife) not until hari dies does she call koly by her name.
Trough indirect charicterization Hair gets what ever he wants because his mother says if her dont get what he wants he get mad very easly and starts to have tantrums and flick stuff also if he dident get his way he would start to scream for Koly Ii learned about Hharis mother that she dont really except Koly and dont listen to what she has to say at times Sass wont let Kkoly read or do anything she dident even want Koly to see Hari when he was sick or even want her to go the the ganges river so that Hari could get well.
Through indirect charactization Hari is king at times he is also very spoiled, he is interested in all different insects. Hari is very soft spoken when he speaks to Koly, although sometimes he would get angry very easily, but although he was sick when he got in the lake Koly got to see what he truly was like when he was well. He was playful and silly but that all ended when he started coughing. Hair's mother on the other hand is very scolding and stricked, her name is Sass. She is very cruel to Koly and is always yelling at her and being really mean. She never even called Koly by her name is was usally just "Hari and that girl" not til after Hari's death that his mother started calling her by her actual name 'Koly'!
Through indirect charactiztion Hari gets whatever he wants and when he wants. He is very spoiled also he throws stuff at the wall if hes mom dont let Koly come in to his room Hari is very sick thats why come his mom lets Koly come in to see him.Koly got to see Hari in the Lake where all very sick people go to cause they belive that will save there lives.Hari and Koly are not very old but they got marriad so Hari could go to the lake cause he and his family thought that he could survive.Koly did not have no clue Hari was so sick.In ther country if their husband dies they become a width which is NOT good at all.
